Online training
What Tai Chi does for the body comes from how it's done, not what it looks like. Learn the shapes without the principles and you get slow exercise. Learn the principles and the form starts to work: joints protected, balance that holds, a nervous system that settles.
The best way to learn is in a room with a good teacher. If there isn't one near you, the next best thing is learning at home from someone who knows the art properly. That's what The Practice Room is for.
It's a small library at the moment, and it will keep growing. Each lesson is taught the way I teach in class: the why behind every movement, in the language of weight, joints and breath, so what you learn stays with you. Follow it closely and you'll do the form well.
15 lessons. Standing, weight transfers, walking, turning, and the basic moves in bow stance. Everything else is built on this.
6 lessons. The eight methods, in overview and then walking, pair by pair.
7 lessons. The whole form, one movement at a time, in the order we learn it in class.
You can also train by focus. Pick what you want to work on, like balance, your kua, or rooting, and get every lesson that trains it.
Coming next: the nine loosening exercises, the 37 form, the sword and the fan.
