Workshops let you work intensively on specific things — so your skill takes a real jump in a short period of time. You get more access to the instructor, so you can feel what's actually going on and then work on it. You train with partners and in groups, with people who love this as much as you do.
And honestly — the environment is half of it. Workshops are always great. You go home recharged, motivated, and more inspired to keep going with your practice.
I organise the European workshops for my Sifu, Richard Huang — a chance to train directly with a master of the Huang Sheng-shyan lineage without flying to Taiwan.
This kind of Tai Chi has to be felt. I remember watching the videos before I ever trained with him, thinking what I was seeing was almost impossible. Then you get in the room, you feel it from him — and you know it's real. And he doesn't just show you: he teaches you how it works, so you can feel it in your own hands and know what you're building towards.
If you've been doing Tai Chi for years, this is the workshop that shows you where the road actually leads — and how to adapt your practice to start building towards it. If you're new, there's no better first experience than feeling what real internal Tai Chi is from day one. Everyone trains together, and everyone's welcome.
The workshops follow a simple pattern: Sifu explains the theory, then you feel it — hands-on, so it's clear it works. Then you practise it, in positions and postures, with a lot of personal correction. It's not just Sifu in the room either: his senior instructor Roger is always there, and several of us indoor students train alongside, so the hands-on attention goes deep. You go home with practical drills to keep building the skill.
Come to one, or follow the tour. Each workshop stands on its own. Together they're a month of training with Sifu Richard Huang.
WHAT THE WORKSHOPS COVER
Most people who've done Tai Chi for a while know the words — song, peng, rooting, internal power, fajin. Fewer can do them. Not because they haven't trained hard, but because internal structure can't be copied by watching. You can imitate the shape of a posture for years and never find what's holding it up.
That's what these workshops are for. Sifu explains the principle, then he puts his hands on you and guides you into the alignment until you feel it. Once you've felt it, you know what you're looking for — and you can find it again on your own. Then you practise it: in standing, in postures, in contact with a partner, with a lot of individual correction.

BARCELONA · 8–11 MARCH 2027
Monday–Thursday · Just outside Barcelona
Sifu has never taught a residential intensive outside Taiwan. This March he will. Four days, a house just outside Barcelona, fifteen people, and nothing else on the schedule. If you've ever thought about going to Taiwan to train with him properly, this is that — without the flight. It's the closest thing to being an indoor student for four days, without leaving Europe.
Two training sessions a day, meals together, and evenings to let it settle. Between sessions you're not going back to a hotel and a city — you're at the table with Sifu, Roger and the other students, and the questions that come up over dinner are often where the real teaching happens. Four days is enough for something to shift, and the residential format means nothing gets in the way of it shifting.
All levels train together. Teaching is in English with translation. Wear loose clothing and flat shoes, bring water and something to write in.
With fifteen people, Sifu works with everyone, every session. He puts his hands on you, finds where the structure is leaking, and corrects it — then comes back later to see if it held. That kind of repeated, individual attention is what moves a practice forward, and it isn't possible in a weekend room of forty.
Deposit non-refundable but transferable. Balance due 31 January and refundable until then. If we cancel, full refund including deposit.
Every so often I run introductory workshops on Tai Chi and Qi Gong as well as more advanced workshops on the internal side of the practice — breath, structure, and the cultivation work that sits underneath Tai Chi. They run in different towns around the area, and they're open to complete beginners as well as experienced students.
Chronic tension isn't a hardware problem — it's software. Somatics works directly with the nervous system, using slow, precise movements to release muscles that have forgotten how to relax. It's quiet work, and the results tend to surprise people.
For the tension that builds up from desks, screens, stress and old habits. You learn to release what's gripping, and how to keep it released.
For the stiffness and pain that creeps in from sitting, and the compensations your body's been making for years.
Each workshop stands on its own — you don't need to have done anything before. You leave with a set of movements you can do at home in minutes a day, and a handout so nothing gets forgotten.
There's also a weekly Somatics class — Wednesdays at 19:30 at Bodhi Health & Studio. Small group, capped at eight people, €15 per session.
Dates, locations and early places go to the list before anywhere else. That's it — no noise, no spam.
